Sandro Santalucia (born 2000 in Rosenheim) studies Intermedia with a focus on artistic research at the University of Cologne. His painting practice is driven by the impulse to give form to archetypes, inner states, and elusive sensations - forms that exist simultaneously between the concrete and the abstract. Inspired by people from his immediate surroundings, his figurative paintings incorporate surreal elements and are based on spontaneous mental images, which he develops further using photography and digital collages as references. Thematically, his work often revolves around transgression - the crossing of norms and conventions - which plays a central role in his artistic inquiry.
